Benessa Reid

Administrative Assistant

Benessa Reid has 18 years of experience working as a nurse across various fields including Pediatric Trach/Vent, Geriatric Care, Home-Based Care and Community Nursing with multiple populations and demographics. She received her diploma in Nursing in 2005 and went on to obtain her associate degree in nursing 2013 at Delaware Technical and Community College while raising two daughters Semaje and Emani, and a son Zakir.

Benessa being a native of Philadelphia “The City of Brotherly Love” has always honed a passion for assisting others to meet their goals and encouraging a positive outlook on life. Beginning as a volunteer in the hospital as a teenager reading to Cancer patients, she then transitioned into a Unit Secretary at a major hospital that loved to snuggle displaced children on the patient floors after work was completed. In 2019 she became a part of Leading Youth Through Empowerment which affords low-income minority students the same access to education as their more affluent peers.

Since relocating to Delaware and graduating college Benessa has taken every opportunity to assist others in finding the resources necessary to progress and move obstacles that may be hindering them. As she grew through her own obstacles, she met her fiancé Derrick Banks and will be getting married August 2023.

Benessa always had the desire to do more and to make a difference; but it was when she became homeless as a young mother that she recognized the need for more than just desire, there needed to be action. Benessa is inspired by New Life Adult Enrichment Center as she witnesses the continued growth of the vision and mission. As a permanent Delaware resident, she plans to implement the years of experience and wisdom she has gained throughout life to affect the surrounding communities positively through consistency, education, and encouragement.
